This 8 pointed star is pieced using a Paper Piecing method which does not require sewing through the paper. This eliminates the need to tear away paper after construction! This star is also made without any Y seams which can be a challenge to most quilters. This is an original design of Anelie Belden?s that was featured in Quiltmakers Magazine.

Fancy Forest is a delightful sampler quilt featuring some of Elizabeth Hartmans most popular blocks. There are five forest creatures and a couple of quick and easy thistle blocks. All blocks are made using simple straight or diagonal seams, no matter how complex the quilt may look. There are NO templates and there is NO paper piecing. This is a four class series quilt. The small quilt (35X 47) is one quarter of the larger quilt and is great for a baby quilt or wall hanging. The large quilt (67 X 91) is perfect for a twin bed or to be used as a sofa quilt or a generous sized lap quilt. Color, color, color is the name of the game with this happy and fun quilt.

Join Sandra in this full day workshop, and make an artful mini landscape. You can choose to bring in a photo and have Sandra help you draft your own art piece, of use one of her drawings. Sandra will bring lots of hand dyed and batik scraps of fabrics, as well as some hand dyed pieces of cheesecloth to use in class, you can bring in some of your own as well. If you are working from your own color photo, choose fabric pieces which similar in color and value to what you see in the photo. Scraps or small pieces are usually fine. Hand dyed fabric appropriate for this class will be available for a small fee, (Pay $5 and take advantage of using some hand dyed silk and cotton scraps) or students may use their own fabric.

This class will teach the sewing basics of sewing skills needed to make a variety of projects. Children can work at their own pace and on a project of their choice. First Project is a pillowcase. I will suggest projects that are within a students level of sewing but the student and parent can choose. Class fees are prepaid the month before. There is a max of 4 students in class.

If you do not understand your sewing machine it is intimidating and you probably are not using it. Learn how to thread, wind bobbin, change needles, change stitch length and width, and changing to decorative stitches. Thread tension can be a puzzle and learn to understand setting the tension correctly! This class will get you started to having fun with your machine!

This five hour hands-on class offers you the opportunities to learn how to service your featherweight, Troubleshooting common problems and history & dating your machine. Class will also include: Oiling and lubing, Cleaning and waxing, Trouble shooting, Tension adjustment, Bobbin cushion replacement, Light replacement, Belt replacement, Motor maintenance.

Beginner level project. Must know how to cast on and do the knit and purl stitch. You will learn increases, decreases and seed stitch. This pattern was designed for Sunshine Coast yarn from Queensland Collection, but any DK weight yarn with a very long color pattern will work. Kits will be available at MiY Studio.

Beginner level project. Must know how to cast on and do the knit stitch. Felting projects are quick to knit and loads of fun to felt. Supplies: 1 to 2 skeins of Noro Rainbow Roll, available from the instructor, 16 or 24 size 10.5 circular needles. This pattern is available in 4 sizes. The sample is the original size pattern. There is one size smaller and two sizes larger. One roll of yarn is plenty for the original size or the smaller bag. The sample bag is unlined but can easily be lined for a more finished project.

Must know how to cast on and do the knit and purl stitch. You will learn pick up and knit, basic lace knitting, i-cord, and ki-cord bind off. This pattern was designed for Painted Cotton and Cairns yarns, but any worsted weight cotton or cotton blend yarn will work.

You will learn to knit in the round, two different lace techniques and decrease shaping. This pattern will include a cowl and fingerless gloves when finished. It is written for United yarn from Queensland Collection, but any sport weight wool and cotton blend will do.

This month we will focus on stitching up a Victorian heart that can be used for decoration or as a pin- cushion. We will learn a variety of embroidery stitches, a little silk ribbon and embellishing with buttons, beads and trim. Students are also welcome to work on a project of their choice.

This quilt has a wonderful balance of applique and traditional piecing. Bird Walk quilt pattern includes full color instructions and diagrams to create paper-pieced, applique and pieced blocks. This is a quilt that seems challenging but is very doable when done a little at a time. Anelie will instruct on each block making the quilt piecing come together like a dream. The sample is done in a Batik fabric collection from Timeless Treasures. Students can of course choose fabrics of their own. This class is always very rewarding. Each month we get another part of the quilt done and in a year we have a masterpiece completed. An heirloom quilt for you and your family to enjoy.
